The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will be suspending rail service south of the Atlanta-area agency’s Medical Center Station in order to carry out track replacement work from Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. through the end of service Feb. 22.

Reduced frequency Red Line service to the airport will resume on Feb. 23, with full service restored on Feb. 26.

MARTA is investing $225 million in State of Good Repair work on its heavy rail lines to improve rail system safety, reduce train delays, and enhance the customer experience, according to a news release. The Track Replacement Program is a multi-year initiative to replace track and switches across the rail system.

Rail service on the Red Line north of Medical Center, as well as the Gold, Blue, and Green Lines, will continue to operate normally.

The transit authority is providing free bus shuttles between its Medical Center, Buckhead, and Lenox Stations, and a $10 Uber or Lyft voucher will be available to commuters through MARTAConnect.
