WESTMONT, Ill. – Metra announced in a news release that BNSF will operate on a Sunday schedule next weekend in order to replace rail ties along the platform at Westmont.

Next weekend, on July 8th and 9th, BNSF will operate on a Sunday schedule, Metra announced in a news release. The schedule change comes as a result of track work at the Westmont Station. The pedestrian crossings at Westmont and Cass Avenue will be closed for those two days, and “trains will not stop at the station on either day.”

As well, there will be detour signs posted to let motorists know of the nearest railroad crossing “at Prospect Avenue in Clarendon Hills and Fairview Avenue in Downers Grove.”

The closure of the station at Westmont will allow BNSF to replace rail ties along the platform.

More information about the schedule can be found here. More closures will be announced in the future.
