FRA slots track safety symposium

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is hosting a free-of-charge Track & Roadway Workplace Safety Symposium, its first collaborative safety gathering tailored to the industry’s track maintenance and construction groups.
On May 19-21, FRA’s approximately 180 track inspectors and specialists will gather in Louisville, Kent., at a to-be-announced venue “to share, learn and grow together during breakout sessions related to track or roadway workplace safety,” says Federal Railroad Administrator Ron Batory.
The symposium aims to advance wide-ranging aspects of safety in sessions covering:
- Technological advancements in on-track safety and track inspection.
- Derailment prevention.
- Continuously welded rail management.
- Active research projects with a safety focus.
- Rail defect detection trends and best practices.
- FRA regulatory guidelines.
The event, which will cater to employees of all experience levels, is a first of its kind for the FRA’s track discipline and will include a short general session followed by 10 time slots for breakouts in eight breakout rooms.
FRA is seeking experts in their respective fields to lead breakout sessions on a wide range of issues pertaining to Track and Roadway Workplace Safety. Those interested in leading a breakout session can sign up here via the registration link. Space is limited to the first 700 registrations.
