TRENTON, Mo. - Union Pacific crews are working near Trenton, Missouri to replace 83,000 ties and 17 miles of rail.

Union Pacific will begin infrastructure projects near Trenton, Missouri in March. Robyn Tysver, a spokesperson, said UP crews are currently replacing 17 miles of rail south of Trenton toward Polo. That project is expected to be finished in April.

Beginning in March, crews will replace around 83,000 ties north of Trenton extending to Princeton. Tysver said UP is “committed to completing the project safely and on time with minimal disruption to the community,” and that UP “invests more than $1 billion each year in maintaining and replacing infrastructure on its 32,000-mile rail network.”

In 2023, UP invested $1.9 billion in its infrastructure, namely 3.7 million railroad ties and 540 miles of rail.
