At a ceremony in Grand Forks, N.D., Northern Plains Rail Services (NPRS) broke ground on its Grand Plains Rail Center–a rail car servicing and repair facility now under construction on industrial-zoned lands near I-29, accessed by BNSF Railway.

Hosted by NPRS Founder and Chairman Gregg Haug, the company was pleased to welcome clients, community representatives, employees, and other special guests for a brief ceremony that celebrated the significant investment NPRS is making in the Grand Forks region.

“The Grand Plains Rail Center will complement our existing repair facility at Erskine, Minn., in addition to supporting new jobs and economic development activity for the area. At Grand Forks, we will provide the repair shop services that our customers have come to continue to count on us such as running repairs, blasting and painting, cleaning, and specialized work,” remarked Haug. “Strategically, the Grand Forks shop will provide our customers that are served by BNSF with excellent access to our car repair services; rounding out the present access to repair facilities that NPR offers at Erskine, Minn., on the CP, and on CN at the Alberta Midland Railway Terminal near Edmonton, Alberta.”

Located on 283 acres, Grand Plains Rail Center is expected to be operational in 2020, with room for continued expansion and development of complementary services.
