Grade crossing safety improvements are at top of mind for most railroad planners, whether in the government or private sector.
Indeed, RT&S’s Editor-in-Chief Bill Wilson hosted a lively webinar yesterday on the subject of grade crossings.
Coincidentally, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio this week announced it is spending $600,000 for upgrades to four rail crossings in the state—two on Norfolk Southern and two on the Columbus and Ohio River Railroad.
NS will receive LED lighting at two crossings in Columbiana County, for which the commission has granted federal funding of $57,372. The Columbus and Ohio River Railroad will receive federal funding of $541,211 for flashing lights and gates at two crossings in Licking County.
All of the installations will be complete by July 5, 2023.
