BNSF’s Carter Tops ‘Women in Rail’ Lineup

Topping the list of reasons to attend Railway Age / RT&S Women in Rail, to be held Nov. 2 in Chicago, is opening speaker Judy Carter, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at BNSF.

Meet Judy Carter

Judy Carter joined BNSF in 2006 as Senior General Attorney. After several subsequent promotions, in 2013 Carter became Vice President, Compliance and Audit and Secretary, managing the Class I’s ethics and compliance program, as well as the corporate audit program. In 2019, she was named Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, and in 2022 moved on to Senior Vice President. In 2023, Carter was honored with a Mogul Workplace Award as one of the Top 100 People Leaders and CHROs. The award “highlights the leaders who are making a difference and championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their workplace.“

About Railway Age / RT&S Women in Rail 2023

The Railway Age / RT&S Women in Rail 2023 conference, presented at the Union League Club of Chicago on Nov. 2, will not only provide an opportunity to network with a diverse group of women and their allies, but also allow for attendees to participate in discussions on how railroaders can maintain the momentum of inclusion, build strong support networks, and take advantage of ever-broadening career opportunities.

Women in Rail Awards 

Railway Age and Railway Track & Structures have recognized the growth in leadership and engineering roles for women railroaders since 2017 and 2021, respectively, with Railway Age’s Women in Rail and RT&S’ Women in Railroad Engineering awards.
