Fridley Station handrail installation continues

Construction activities at the Fridley, Minn., Northstar commuter rail station are slightly behind schedule. However, crews remain optimistic that the station will be ready for opening day.

Currently, installation
of handrails throughout the station area continues. Installation of glass for
the station shelters and east and west entrances was completed. Roofing on the
station shelters and east and west entrances continues, as does painting around
the station shelters and entrances and landscape planting on the east and west
sides. Fence installation around the station site continues and the majority of
electrical work at the station is complete.

Northstar Commuter Rail
will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, with regular
commuter service beginning on the following Monday, Nov. 16.
