MARC adjusts schedule as Amtrak track work impacts Penn Line

Written by jrood

The Maryland Transit Administration advises the public of an upcoming Amtrak project on the Northeast Corridor between New Carrollton and Baltimore that will impact MARC Train Penn line riders. This major track work project, replacing the crossties on the northbound track, will require Penn Line schedule changes approximately every 4-5 weeks for the next six months.

As the trackwork
progresses, temporary platform extensions will be used to permit continued high-level
platform boarding at stations. It is imperative that passengers wait on the
concrete platform until the train has come to a complete stop, passengers have
detrained and the conductors direct passengers to board. These procedures are
to ensure your safety.

MARC said it appreciate passengers’
understanding while Amtrak improves their railroad to provide MARC passengers
with a comfortable and safe ride. Details will follow on the next schedule
change once they are finalized.
