The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration announced that construction on a pedestrian bridge at the Rogers Avenue Metro Subway Station would commence on March 6.

The bridge connects the parking lot to the station, and its replacement is part of the agency’s efforts to keep its facilities in a state of good repair. The new bridge’s construction is expected to be completed in early 2024.

Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold said the new pedestrian bridge at the Rogers Avenue Station will improve access to the Metro Subway for passengers.

“Completion of this project is essential to maintain our system’s assets,” Arnold said.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience while the work is underway.”

Throughout the bridge replacement project, the Rogers Avenue Station will remain operational for service. The bus loading and off-loading areas will be relocated to the west side of the station during construction, a release said. Elevator and escalator access to the track platform will also be preserved.

The Maryland Transit Administration said it will continue to keep commuters informed through station signs, platform announcements, and updates via social media and email notifications.
