Georgia Ports Authority betting big on rail

Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) Executive Director Griff Lynch detailed a new strategic rail initiative, GPA’s Mid-American Arc, and said bigger ships, deeper water and expanded rail are converging to make GPA a powerhouse across the Southeast and Midwest during the annual Savannah State of the Port address.

North Carolina Railroad donates $50,000 to AREMA Educational Foundation

One engineering student will receive a $1,000 scholarship each year from the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Educational Foundation indefinitely following the foundation’s receipt of a $50,000 contribution from the North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR).

Phase 2 of MTA’s intense track clean up begins

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has begun Phase 2 of its “Operation Track Sweep,” a multi-phase plan to get trash off of subway tracks, which is expected to minimize train delays and lower the risks of track fires.
