The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority issued a Notice to Proceed to Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors for the Crenshaw/LAX Line.

Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors was awarded the $1.27 billion contract for the line in June and can now proceed with design/build work. Heavy construction on the line is expected to begin in 2014 and the contractor has five years to complete the project.

LACMTA’s Crenshaw/LAX Line will extend from the existing Exposition Line at Crenshaw and Exposition Boulevards. The Line will travel 8.5 miles to the Green Line’s Aviation/LAX Station and will serve the cities of Los Angeles, Inglewood, Hawthorne and El Segundo, as well as portions of unincorporated Los Angeles County.
