Stephen Covey, M.O.M., M.S.M. was appointed to his position at CN in 2013. Prior to this, he was Chief of CN Police for Canada. His responsibilities include providing leadership and oversight in the fields of police, risk mitigation, corporate security and business continuity/incident management. Prior to coming to CN, Covey served more than 27 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in many locations including overseas postings in Europe and the Middle East, overseeing the RCMP’s operations in organized crime and anti-terrorism. Upon his retirement from the RCMP, Steve was the Officer in charge of the Organized Crime Branch of the RCMP in “C” Division. Covey has Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees in Public Policy and Public Administration from Concordia University. He is also a graduate of various specialized law enforcement courses from several accredited institutions across Canada. A recognized expert witness on international organized crime, he has lectured in several universities and colleges. Covey has served President and Chair of the Board of Directors for Operation Lifesaver Canada; member of the Board of Directors for Operation Lifesaver Inc. in the U.S.; member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Can-Am Border Trade Alliance; and Vice Chair of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Railroad Section.
