JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Port Authority is building a new vehicle berth, and construction is 50% complete.
The new berth is located at the Port’s Blount Island Marine Terminal, is designated Berth 21, and will be the island’s third dedicated vehicle berth. The new berth is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
The construction of this berth is part of a $60 million investment at Blount Island that will provide operational flexibility for auto vessel calls. Recently, vehicle Berth 22 was completed, which now accommodates larger vehicle vessels up to approximately 750 feet LOA (length overall). Together, the two projects will increase vessel-handling capability while maintaining efficient operations for auto customers. The Florida Department of Transportation is funding 75% of the project and the Jacksonville Port Authority is providing a 25% match.

Jacksonville Port Authority CEO Eric Green said “As one of the nation’s leading vehicle-handling ports, it’s important that we continue investing in the infrastructure needed to support future demand. Jacksonville’s strategic location and transportation network position us well to serve rising demand for vehicle imports and exports across Florida and the broader Southeast U.S. region.”
The Jacksonville Port Authority handled more than 506,000 vehicles in 2025.
