WASHINGTON, D.C. - As part of the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant program, $999.5 million in funding has been made available for infrastructure projects.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), the program funds faster emergency response, parking for truckers, modern rail crossings, and safer neighborhood streets. The FY26 SS4A Notice of Funding Opportunity solicits applications for the SS4A grants (below). Those interested in submitting projects must do so by May 26, 2026.

The SS4A has two types of grants. The first is the Planning and Demonstration Grants and it supports the development, completion, or enhancement of a Comprehensive Safety Plan. The second is the Implementation Grants, and it funs projects or strategies aligned with an existing Action Plan to address roadway safety challenges, according to the USDOT. All recipients are selected via a “collaborative process” by the Department with experts from the FHWA, NHTSA, and the FTA.
