MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – Metrolinx reports on its progress on its Hazel McCallion Line and Port Credit GO Station.

RT&S has reported on the ongoing work on Metrolinx’s Hazel McCallion Line over the past year. Recently, the agency reported its progress in south Mississauga. Toward the end of October, crews removed “components of the innovative Verona System, which facilitated the concrete passageway (also known as a push box) installation under the Lakeshore West rail tracks at Port Credit GO Station without impacting train service.”

Now that the box has been installed, this will separate northbound and southbound traffic “into and out of the future Port Credit LRT Station.” Below is a video from Metrolinx that shows a time-lapse of the push-box.

The removal of the Verona System allowed for the construction of a Port Credit GO underground LRT station. In addition, crews reinstated three GO train tracks with new rail. According to Metrolinx, this allows for better efficiency and safety for its passengers. As well, foundation for two more tracks has been laid which sets it up for future expansion.
