A couple of railroad projects in Indiana are moving along smoothly.

The South Shore Line’s Double Track project is past the one-third completion mark and the West Lake Corridor project is reaching 10% completion.

The South Shore Line project involves constructing 16.9 miles of second track next to the existing commuter line from Gary to Michigan City. Four bridges also will be built.

Michigan City double-track work is expected to be complete by Thanksgiving. At West Lake, earthwork, utility relocations, and other infrastructure work will continue. When complete, the West Lake project will connect Hammond to Dyer.

The Double Track project is on course to be completed in the spring of 2024. West Lake will finish in spring of 2025.
