$5.1M Awarded to Six Rail Infrastructure Projects in Iowa

DECORAH, Iowa - The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved $5.1 million under the Railroad Revolving Loan and Grant (RRLG) Program.

The funding will go toward six different rail infrastructure and development projects that are also expected to “support the creation and retention of 55 jobs within three years of project completion,” according to the Iowa DOT.

For Targeted Job Creation Projects:

The A-line EDS Rail Spur in Black Hawk County received a loan of $1,249,000 and a grant of $60,000.

The Appanoose Country Rail Extension received a grant of $600,000.

For Rail Network Improvement Projects:

The BJRY Rail Yard and Transload in Des Moines County received a loan of $257,349.

The Heartland Co-op Greenfield Rail Loading Elevator in Wayne County received a loan of $1,840,000.

The Reid Line Dexter Rail Yard Improvements Project in Dallas County received a loan of $957,000.

For Rail Port Planning & Development Projects:

The Webster City Rail Port Planning and Development project in Hamilton County received a grant of $100,000.
