KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a KC Streetcar track failure earlier this week, crews begin making repairs on portion of track between Main Street Bridge over I-670.

KSHB reported KC Streetcar track repairs began yesterday morning. Service is suspended due to “track failure on a portion of Main Street Bridge over Interstate 670 in downtown Kansas City.” While the official root cause of the track failure is unknown as of yet, “a preliminary investigation found the failure was likely due to thermal expansion and degradation of the streetcar track slab and related repair materials.”

Crews are working on the repairs, and there has been no word yet on when service will resume on this portion.
