The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority has announced that the agency will temporarily suspend its Red Line rail service south of the Medical Center Station later this week in order to prioritize track replacement work.

MARTA Red Line service will be suspended from Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. through the end of service on Feb. 22. Red Line service will operate normally north of the Medical Center Station, and regular rail service will be available to commuters on the Gold, Blue, and Green Lines, a release said.

Customers will also have access to free bus shuttles running consistently between the Medical Center, Buckhead, and Lenox Stations.

MARTA said the agency is investing $225 million in State of Good Repair work on its heavy rail lines to improve rail system safety, minimize train delays, and enhance the customer experience. The Track Replacement Program is a multi-year initiative to replace track and switches across the rail system, a release said.
