SAN SABA, Texas –– OmniTRAX rail management company has rolled out an automated track inspection system.

The Railway Track and Structures virtual conference on Track Geometry and Rail Flaw Detection aired this week. If you weren’t able to tune in live, you can register for and watch the program via this link. We were fortunate to have Arthur Chandler from the Pinsly Railroad Company, Todd Kuhn from BNSF, and Andre Broekman from ENSCO (one of our sponsors) presenting. Our other sponsors were Holland, Loram, and Plasser American.

One of the topics of discussion was Automated Track Inspection (ATI) technology that has been developed in-house by BNSF and deployed on the railroad. While BNSF built their own system, several companies have developed ATI systems for the commercial market. One of our conference sponsors, Holland, is among them.

Moreover, we learned this week that OmniTRAX has rolled out the Holland ATI system, known as Argus Track Measurement Technology. OmniTRAX calls Argus an “industry-leading autonomous inspection system that continuously measures track conditions and identifies any abnormalties in real time.”

OmniTRAX says that it has “debuted a new rail safety technology on its new affiliate Central Texas and Colorado River Railway (CTXR). The award-winning track monitoring software marks OmniTRAX’s first use in Texas. CTXR’s newly restored operations span 49 miles in Central Texas, providing active freight rail service and Class I rail connections in Lometa. OmniTRAX’s renewed service to the region has generated a surge of new customer interest in rail shipping. Holland’s technology helps CTXR successfully operate its expanding freight volumes by minimizing service interruptions and optimizing reliability.”

OmniTRAX President and Chief Operating Officer, Sergio Sabatini, said, “Argus allows us to monitor track conditions in real time with each train movement, enhancing our industry-leading service reliability and rail delivery. We are deeply committed to the safety of our employees, customers, and the communities we serve, and this technology is a great investment in our collective operational safety.”

Holland General Manager, RMSS, Erik Curran, said, “Bringing autonomous track inspection to the CTXR is an exciting milestone for the Holland team. OmniTRAX and CTXR share our commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence. By working together, our advanced autonomous inspection technology is providing CTXR continuous infrastructure insights that enhance safety and operational reliability along the entire line.”
