Caltrain construction, maintenance update

Written by Administrator

Work on Caltrain's Grade Crossing Improvement Program, which will enhance safety at 25 grade crossings in San Mateo County, will continue the week of Dec. 14. Throughout the project area, at least one lane of the impacted street will remain open. Flagmen will direct traffic and pedestrians around the construction.

In Burlingame, there was an increase in train horn noise due to testing
of the signal system at each crossing. Horns were more frequent Dec. 13
as trains perform federally-mandated tests of the signals at the
crossing.

From Dec. 14 to Dec. 17, crews will replace crossties
on the tracks between the Bayshore and Millbrae stations. Dec. 14-17,
crews will weld and grind switches between the Menlo Park and Lawrence
stations. Dec. 13-17, crews will replace ties, resurface the tracks and
weld and grind the switches between the Sunnyvale and San Jose Diridon
stations.
