Precision Scheduled Railroading (PSR) and its variants, which have been adopted by most of the Class 1 railroads, have led to changes in train lengths and speeds. In some cases, railroads are running shorter and faster trains; in most cases, they’re running longer, heavier, and slower trains.  

Hudson Tunnel Project To Receive $6.88 Billion Federal Grant

NEWARK, N.J. and NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) announced last week that the Hudson Tunnel Project has entered the Engineering Phase of the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grants (CIG) Program and that the FTA had updated the project to receive an up to a $6.88 Billion CIG Program grant.

L.B. Foster Sells CXT Subsidiary to Nortrak

SPOKANE, Wash. – L.B. Foster Company (L.B. Foster) announced July 5 that its CXT Incorporated (CXT) subsidiary has completed the sale of substantially all the operating assets of its prestressed concrete railroad tie business located in Spokane, Wash., to voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak, LLC (Nortrak).
