The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will shut down Baltimore Metro Subway service from the Milford Mill to Mondawmin stations for 21 days – July 23 to August 12 – for replacement of major components of Metro rail.

Work will largely include reconstructing three interlockings. During the shutdown, the MTA will utilize the time to perform additional rail replacement, track maintenance, station improvements and cleaning.

“This necessary and critical rail work will further enhance service safety and reliability and allow trains to move faster through this corridor of the Metro track,” explained MTA Deputy Administrator Suhair Al Khatib.
