CSX suffers two train derailments in 48 hours

There have been a couple of train derailments over the last 48 hours, both of them involving CSX trains. In West Virginia, rail cars fell into the Potomac River on Saturday, Dec. 21. Less than 24 hours later, another CSX train collided with a parked train in Cincinnati.
In Ohio, the Sunday morning accident caused a total of 18 rail cars to derail—eight from the moving train and 10 from the parked one. Most of the cars, however, were empty.
The accident in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., looked a little more severe. There, seven rail cars fell off the track, with two cars dropping into the Potomac. No injuries were reported but a pedestrian bridge serving the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park was destroyed.
The CSX train was moving east and was pulling seven empty grain cars.
The scene was all clear by Sunday.
Investigations into both derailments are ongoing.
