Track installation on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project in Toronto is getting close to completion.

Metrolinx has announced that more than 77 percent, or over 36 km, is now in place in the new tunnel. The project was originally supposed to be complete in late 2021, but that deadline has been pushed back to 2022.

One of the most complex portions of the project is building a second subway platform at Eglinton station below the TTC’s Yonge-University line 1. All of the underpinning and excavation work at the station is now complete, and the next step is pouring concrete to form the lower level.

Extensive underground work is currently happening at the Fairbank station, where crews are working on placing track and installing power systems. To the east, the tracks between the Laird and Leaside stations have been installed.
