STRATFORD, Conn. - The Connecticut Department of Transportation's (CTDOT) Office of Engineering is developing plans to replace the Devon Rail Bridge.
Located between the town of Stratford and the city of Milford, the bridge carries the Metro-North rail line over the Housatonic River. Elsewhere, the office is also developing plans to replace the Naugatuck Avenue River Bridge and the Metro-North Railroad Bridge. The project’s schedule includes a design that is expected to be completed by December 2029. Construction is slated to start in spring 2030, following approval of the project, funding, and receipt of “any required right-of-way and environmental permits.”
CTDOT states funding for the project is expected to come from the following: 80% federally-sourced, 14.8% state-sourced, and 5.2% Amtrak funding. As the project progresses, it says it will work to keep the community informed and hold meetings with town and city officials to discuss the project.
