Crews worked overnight to install the drilled shafts.

Walsh Construction and Fluor Corporation perform drilled shaft installation during a shutdown of Lawrence Avenue in Chicago, part of the Lawrence-to-Bryn Mawr portion of the Red-Purple Modernization.

Lawrence Avenue also is the route for a major storm sewer, which required a significant protection plan to support the weight of the drilling equipment. Crews worked overnight to install the stone and crane mats, then handed the site over to drilled shaft crews who worked non-stop until early evening.
