Getzner USA, Inc., is opening its first production facility in North America, which the company explains will allow it to expand its product range domestically.

The plant in Decatur, Ill., manufactures several products including elastic bearings for railway traffic and products for the bedding of buildings made from Getzner’s high-tech materials: Sylomer®, Sylodyn® and Sylodamp®.

Getzner Werkstoffe, based in Austria, has been active in North America for more than 20 years, with headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., since 2013. The new plant, which has the potential for expansion, meets the requirements outline in the Buy America Act.

“The production facility opens up a range of new opportunities for our customers in the U.S. as we track with the continued needs and growth in the railway industry,” states Andreas Denk, president of Getzner USA. “While our research and development will remain in Austria, we can guarantee even better and faster customer support for all our North American customers with this new U.S. production facility.”

The company says its Buers, Austria, employees will spend the next two years training employees at the new plant.

“”This is important because our processes are very complex,” explained Denk.
