The Editorial Board of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part F: Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit presented "The 2011 SAGE Best Paper Award" to researchers at Transportation Technology Center, Inc., including Principal Investigator Huimin Wu, Senior Vice President Technology Semih Kalay and Scientist Harry Tournay for their paper "Development of the wheel‐rail interface management model and its applications in heavy haul operations."

“I am very pleased that that the editorial board chose to recognize Dr. Wu, Mr. Kalay and

Mr. Tournay for their outstanding work in the field of wheel‐rail interface management. This is important research that will provide great benefit to the rail industry, especially in North America,” said TTCI President Lisa Stabler.

Winning papers are considered in each field of merit, relevance and presentation. To receive top marks, the editorial board members base their judgment on whether the paper introduces new knowledge or fundamentally moves the topic area forward, points to a new way of doing things and is presented in an outstanding and quality manner.
