BMWED, A&S Ratify Agreement

ST. LOUIS, Ill. – Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division (BMWED) American Rail System Federation members on the UP-owned Alton & Southern Railway (A&S) ratified a 5 year collective bargaining agreement.

JACKSONVILLE –– CSX President and CEO Joe Hinrichs, Railway Age’s 2025 Railroader of the Year, has been suddenly and unexpectedly railroaded by his own collectively myopic Board of Directors, and for no reason other than, sooner or later, refusing to join the transcon merger fray. I’m not the only one who wholeheartedly agrees with CNBC’s Jim Cramer that there has been an “injustice in Jacksonville” based on short-sightedness and hedge fund pressure. Call me naïve, but I didn’t see it coming. Nor did many others.

CSX Re-Opens Blue Ridge Subdivision

JACKSONVILLE –– Readers will remember the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in the southeastern United States nearly one year ago. One area of severe damage was CSX’s former Clinchfield Railroad line, which has undergone a nearly year-long rebuild process. The line was opened for revenue traffic this past weekend.

ATLANTA –– Norfolk Southern’s Intermodal and Automotive business units recently announced upgrades to four terminals in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania that support “capacity, efficiency, and customer demand.” These projects are “strategic moves” designed to “bring more business to our railroad while helping to reduce highway congestion and truck carbon emissions.”
